The Vacancy
At Help for Heroes, we help the Armed Forces community live well after service.
Life can be tough when a military career comes to an end, especially if it has been cut short by illness or injury. Overnight, people lose not only their job, but also a support network that is like family. There are many ways we help veterans, their relatives, serving personnel, and people who worked alongside the UK military. We help people with their physical and mental health needs, and a range of welfare issues. Our support gives people the skills, confidence and knowledge to make a success of life after service.
And who are we you’re wondering? We are experts and beginners. Generalists and specialists. Ordinary people with an extraordinary passion towards making a positive change to the lives of our veterans (and having fun while doing it).
As One Team we share a philosophy – I.C.A.R.E. It’s the way we walk and talk, the way we interact with others and how we approach everything we do. We are:
Innovative – Collaborative – Authentic – Resourceful – Energetic.
We have an incredible opportunity for an Insight Analyst to join our team on a permanent basis.
Please see below for more information on what just might be your future role.
About You
Are you looking for an opportunity to use your data and analysis skills to make a real difference to the lives of our Armed Forces Community?
Are you ready to support the charity with accessing the right data to make evidence-based decisions? If yes, then we want to hear from you.
We are looking for a creative and innovative Insight Analyst to join our Data, Insight and Research team on a permanent basis.
You will have experience of building reports in tools such as PowerBi or Tableau, using Data Visualisation techniques to make these reports accessible and engaging for non-technical audiences.
You will have some working knowledge of SQL to allow you to investigate the data that exists and to define requirements for our data engineer to action.
You’ll enjoy taking ownership of a suite of reports that provide operational strategic information to our Recovery teams. In addition to your strong analysis and numeracy skills, you will be great at planning, able to work autonomously on multiple projects, using your good reasoning and judgement to make effective decisions.
If this sounds like you, then we want to hear from you!
About the Role
As an Insight Analyst you will work alongside the data, insight and research team to create reports and provide ad-hoc analysis that informs how our recovery teams can provide the best service possible.
You will also work with the recovery team, providing support and training in the use of these reports. You will meet with them to understand how their individual processes can be aggregated to give a view of an individual or a view of a team’s functionality.
About the Team
This role sits within our Data, Insight and Research team. This is an exciting time for the team, which is relatively new, as we establish and develop this function within the charity, directly leading into our LiveWell Strategy. As a growing team we are transforming the way data and insight are used within the charity, supporting the organisation with becoming insight-led. We are a passionate group, sharing our skills to provide our internal stakeholders with the insight expertise to inform their decision making, whether this comes from our own data, external research or research that we will commission and deliver. We work closely together, to complement the skills and knowledge that working across the charity brings. We celebrate our successes and value the different perspectives, learning from each other and developing new ideas.
About Us
Help for Heroes believes those who serve our country deserve support when they’re wounded. Every day, men and women have to leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds. The Charity helps them, and their families, to recover and get on with their lives. It has already supported more than 26,500 people and won’t stop until every wounded veteran gets the support they deserve.
